The Rough Riders

Andromeda and her twin sister Marianna were born on Devil's Night of 2001 to Carmen Ramonov, daughter of well-known crime boss Nicolae Ramonov. Her father to this day remains unknown to either girl. Carmen was killed shortly before the girls' first birthday by the Giovanni Family, rivals of Nicolae. In the midst of west coast expansion, Nicolae nonetheless immediately began taking care of the orphaned twin girls. Fearful of them meeting their mother's death, Nicolae did all that he could to protect them from the reality of his business.

This dream was short lived however, brought to a quick end by a Triad hitman. Joseph Torrelli, Nicolae's brother-in-law, took the girls in next and also took over Detroit operations while west coast operations were left to a man by the name of Cyrus Bishop.

Joseph had a different outlook on a proper method to raise the girls. Growing up in a family dominated by violent and sometimes unsavory men, Joseph felt it was important the girls knew how to take care of themselves.

Over the course of the next ten years, they learned much from Joseph and his lieutenants, essentially their fathers during this time. The product was a pair of young women who could fight, drive, drink, steal, kill and survive with the best of them.

Things took a turn for the worst when Joseph discovered a secret the girls had kept for years. Although he was aware that both of the girls had lost their virginity in their early teens, the shock came the morning after their 16th birthday party when he learned that neither girl was apparently interested in boys at all. Sparing details, both girls were caught in the act.

Joseph was enraged and as even an unethical Catholic, immediately kicked both girls out of the house. They spent most of their time living at friends' houses until one day, Andromeda ran into a Navy recruiter at school. At the time Congress had passed a bill allowing the integration of women into combat MOSs. Andromeda said goodbye to her sister who enrolled at MIT. Andromeda enlisted in the Navy as an Underwater Demolitions Specialist. After two years in the program the Department of the Navy started a plan to create the first all female SEAL team. Andromeda was chosen as a candidate for the program. Of the fifty people chosen, Andromeda and her six team-mates were all that graduated. They became SEAL Team 13.

After another two years of loyal and distinguished service, Andromeda's life struck tragedy once more when she and a team-mate, Caitlin McEvoy were caught together. Both were discharged from the Navy.

Andromeda moved to Chicago to stay with her sister, who worked as a software programmer in Chicago. She worked a couple of odd jobs here and there, but nothing really came of any of it. She realized she needed to find a well-paying profession that would appreciate her skills. After sitting down with Marianna, the pair decided to go mercenary. The only problem was finding the starting capital for such a venture. Despite her bad reputation with her family, she sought out a man by the name of Cyrus Bishop.

Marianna had met Cyrus at a ball in San Diablo, CA. Cyrus spoke for a good length of time with Marianna and offered his card should she ever need anything. Now, they needed a sponsor.

Thanks to the backing of Cyrus Bishop and Bishop Enterprises, Incorporated, Marianna and Andromeda were able to secure a Special Operations License from MERC (Mercenary Evaluation and Review Commision), the UN sanctioned organization which regulates all legal mercenary units and their contracts with employers. To command, work for or employ a merc unit not registered with MERC was an international offense with a penalty of up to 10 million dollars and/or 25-40 years in prison.

Thus was born the Roughriders, made up of operatives that Andromeda had worked with and personnel that she hired from MERC's Freelance Operative Database. In the three years the mercenary command has been operating, they've signed fifteen contracts. Of those fifteen, fourteen were successfully completed. The exception was one employer's attempt at revenge, but it failed miserably.

A call from Cyrus Bishop from his new Central American home prompted Andromeda to return to the States. Making her way to a meeting with him in San Diablo, she doesn't know what to expect, but both she and the Roughriders prepare to move at a moment's notice.

Ramonov's Roughriders

The Roughriders were founded in the year 2024 as a special operations command by Andromeda and Marianna Ramonov, granddaughters of infamous crime boss Nicolae Ramonov, shortly after Andromeda's controversial discharge from the United States Navy. Partially reason for obtaining their SO (special operations) licence, they were originally sponsored by founder and former president of Bishop Enterprises, Incorporated, Cyrus Bishop. They remain loyally supported by BEI and new president, Livie Bishop.

In their time as a mercenary command, the Roughriders have signed fifteen contracts. Of those, only one went uncompleted. This, however, was due to a contract breech on the employer's part. The Roughriders' operational record remains virtually unmatched.

Plans for the Future:

More and more now days, employers are realizing the benefits of employing mercenaries. Andromeda recognizes this need. Therefore, she's already started plans to expand the Roughriders' operational abilities.

On the small Carribean island affectionately called, "the Stable," the command maintains it's headquarters. A successful career and careful negotiation with BEI has enabled the command to begin operations on advanced training, housing and outfitting facilities on the small island. Once complete, the island will have it's own fully functional aeroport, seaport, special ops training facility, personnel facilities and housing and command center. The island will support up to a battalion of special operations trainees, a training company, the Roughriders' operational company, and a few dozen support personnel needed to keep the island functioning. The Roughrider teams will eventually rotate training cycles so trainees can recieve training straight from experianced operatives.
